Bruxism is the grinding and clenching of teeth either during the day, or while sleeping. It can be diagnosed by looking at abnormal tooth wear facets, hypersensitive teeth or pain in the jaws.
Lamparski Orthodontics will work with you to diagnose the cause of your bruxism, and provide treatment.
Bruxism is often related to stress, anxiety, family problems, anger, frustration or tension.
It can also be caused by teeth that aren’t aligned properly, or when the upper and lower teeth don’t fit together properly when biting.
Research suggests that some people become prone to bruxism due to certain medications such as antidepressants and antipsychotics.
Bruxism can create serious issues related to oral, TMJ, and muscular health.
Bruxism can cause tooth hypersensitivity towards hot, cold, or sweets.
Bruxism leads to premature tooth wear, headaches, and aches in the neck, jaw or face, or ears.
BRUXISM TREATMENT WITH LAMPARSKI ORTHODONTICS.
Knowing that in some cases bruxism is genetic, Dr. Lamparski first reviews your family history, along with your medical records, lifestyle and eating habits. He will then diagnose the type and severity of your bruxism.
Each individual diagnosis is treated differently. In some cases Dr. Lamparski suggests a mouthguard to protect teeth from further damage. In other cases he advises certain exercises, counseling for stress management, or slight changes in your oral health routine.
